Here are 3 out of 4 panels I did for a quick comic for a friend which turned into practice for making nice comics. I really enjoy making comics, but always feel that I rush through them when I make them; this was practice to see if I could make a comic without rushing. By the third panel I think I was getting tired... it looks a bit more sloppy then the other two - thats when I took a quick break. I added the text and word bubbles in photoshop a bit afterwards just because that can be the worse part of the process - so many layers can get a bit of an annoyance.

These panels just go UP to DOWN, and they're already in order. I guess they could go LEFT to RIGHT, but I always liked the latter better. I don't know why.

Consquently, this makes me wonder how I should be doing comics layouts... layouts are always the worse for me! Does the fancier layouts, that have all sorts of crazy sizes for panels help tell the story better? Or are simple six panel boxes better? What do you think?

I draw a lot of Pizza Time Characters ... ...Trixie belongs to my friend who is expecting a wee lil' one in Feb.

Some concept designs I drew up today... I'm not sure if I like "Miss Kitty" in that design, or the more simple design I had drawn her in the other day. :S

My friend suggested I draw a comic, so I thought I'd work on a story I've had roaming in my mind for a while. This was as much as I got out of working on it for a hour or so while watching a movie.

...I did an okay job, but I want to know what you think!

Been working on this on and off for the past few days. I'm taking a break now and feel good enough to present it... whew!

A cute little beagle girl by the name of Penny for my friend. I inked it, but didn't like the result. I'll probably try drawing her on paper. :>

Character designs for some of my older characters (they were originally created back in Middle School; Kathy in High School). Chris, Fred's best friend, Frank, Fred's other best friend, and Kathy, Chris' girlfriend from college.

Chris was actually the second or third male character I've created, I think. He was first inspired by the Sonic character, Espio the Chameleon. I don't have any real good pictures of him from back then, but he was red. When my friend Kyle and I met, he helped me by redesigning Chris.

And then I kind of stopped liking the whole chameleon thing. So, I went back and forth, trying to deciede what he should be. It was a choice between chameleon, chicken, or crocodile.

Croc won, mostly by default.

Chris' personality changes throughout the story; for the most of his life, he's a bit shy, and socially awkard and hides himself in books - books that inspire him to start writing himself. In high school, he's so good at writing, he's accepted to a fancy school out of state, and wins scholarships to go.

This is when things turn upside down with his friendship with Fred.

Frank is Fred's other best friend, who was the "new kid" in the Middle School years. He's a gamer, and like any real panda, he's a bit lazy. His father owns a business (not sure what kind), and expects his son to follow him. Frank, having no real ambitions otherwise, does what his father wants of him, not only to please him, but because he likes to avoid disappointing people (mostly cause they'll keep complaining until he does something about it). If you look past his usualy lazy manner, you'll find that he's a hard worker and a great business man like his father.

Kathy has no real story behind her for now, except that she's dating Chris. She's based off a friend I met during school, and I loved her characteristics so much that I wanted to make a character like her. So, there she is.

Oh, hello childhood friend. C:

I went to town with letting myself go with stylizing these characters. They're not accurate to the official designs, but I say that doing an interpretation is a lot more fun!

Foxy, Sally, and Jasper from Pizza Time Theater.

I went to look up my pen name (ameart) on google.com for fun, and found that almost everything that pops up belongs to me. My twitter, and blogspot popped up, as well as my old freewebs web site turned up. It kind of weirds me out, and I really don't know why.

At any rate, here is one of my latest finished products, a birthday drawing I did for my friend, Kyle. Its of his character Steff. He requested a girl character of his, and I wanted to go ahead and draw her nude - however, I still wanted it tasteful (atleast, in my eye, this is tasteful). I was thinking I should have put a greek-like outfit on her for public eye, because I've given my Dad this account, but I don't even think he checks it and its just... ah. What the heck, you know? Plus, I'm pretty sure if Michaelangelo could get away with a naked statue, that I'm in the clear for badgering.

I swear, I don't draw naked ladies all the time. Why in the world do I need to justify myself for these kind of drawings? Its just a drawing, for gods sake.

Anyways, I guess that's all I have to say for now. I'm often sitting at my computer these days, wondering what I should draw for San Japan; I've got ideas, and I've sketched things, but thats it for now.

(EDIT: I felt this journal entry was rather depressing so I edited a lot of it out to cut out on the venting that should be left in private to friends; I have great news though, after I wrote it out, I really sat down and drew... and drew... and drew! So, maybe my lack of motivation was just because I needed to express myself in writing. To those who took t he time to read it, bless you for having patience. Back to art we go!)
